Battery Pack Pro contains all sorts of tools for the Pocket PC and is
an excellent all-around upgrade option. Once installed it adds many new features to
the Today screen. Analysis tools, a cleaning program, and a better
task manager are just a few of the features the program brings to the table.
Once the program is installed it fundamentally changes the operation of the
Today screen. In the status bar a small battery symbol shows the remaining
battery power and tells you how long this charge will keep the device in operation.
Now you can tell at a glance exactly how long your Pocket PC will stay running before you
leave your home or office.
The program also displays three new toolbars that take up approximately a quarter
of the Today Screen. The bottom-most bar offers information about the current status
of the device, telling you how much memory is available in the main memory
and on the memory card. One click with the stylus opens up a full-screen overview.
Here you're given a deluxe overview of the device memory, with information about
the current load on the memory as well as the data transfer rate of any device
connections currently active.
The software also takes all of the icons used by applications, tools, and games and
automatically displays them on the Today screen. In this way important programs can be
started with a stylus tap and programs no longer have to be searched for in the program menu.
If the space in the icon row is not enough for all of the icons, small arrow buttons allow you to toggle
and view the remaining ones.
Battery Pack's own features can be accessed from the top-most toolbar. The Power Clean module is
included here. This feature allows you to delete temporary internet files and cookies from the
internet cache. In this way you can prevent too much garbage from piling up
on your device. An auto-delete function is also included, allowing
Power Clean to be activated automatically once per hour.
The Power Buttons function is also interesting. It allows you to link a single hardware button
with two different programs so that they can both be started simultaneously, irrespective of
whether the button is given a short or long push. Also worth mentioning is the Task Manager
that can be started from the top-right corner of the device. It names all active programs
and allows you to shut them down from a central location. A few other smaller features make this a great all-around upgrade application for the Pocket PC.
